An evolution of the Soviet T-80 design, the T-84 is Ukraine's latest indigeneously-developed main battle tank. While it keeps many of the same features as its parent design, including the dizzying variety of field-expedient modification, the T-84 boasts an improved diesel engine and stronger overall defenses.

In Ukrainian service currently, the T-84 also includes a dedicated anti-aircraft gun, widely believed to be upgraded with some measure of anti-drone capability. The main gun is also compatible with NATO ammunition and can be fitted to fire anti-tank missiles.
