After grinding conflict and a concerted effort to transform the Ukrainian military's culture away from the Soviet model of centralized command and control, the AFU has experienced significant success in enhancing the capability of their non-commissioned officers and junior officers. Most AFU officers in combat units are equipped with modern communications equipment, and often have a close relationship with the AFU's innovative web of low-cost, high-volume drones used for both reconnaissance and direct attack.
