The MG3 is a minor modification of the World War Two-era MG42 general purpose machine gun, chambered for NATO standard ammunition. Despite the age of the basic design, it remains a mainstay of NATO and allied militaries and the base of fire for many units, thanks to its impressive rate of fire, durable nature, and ease of use.
Like many other weapons in the Ukrainian arsenal, the MG3 is a result of allied supply and is employed across a variety of units.
